Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing ByteConvert ("Service", "we", "our", or "us"), creating an account, utilizing our public conversion widgets, or connecting to our programmatic APIs, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not accept these terms in full, do not use the Service.

2. Account Registration, Verification & Security

To unlock extended quotas, persistent storage, and API management, users may register an account. You agree to:

• Provide a valid, verifiable email address under your direct control.
• Complete email confirmation prior to accessing dashboard privileges.
• Maintain strong, unique credentials and keep your authentication tokens confidential.
• Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access or security compromises.

3. Permitted Use & Prohibited Conduct

ByteConvert is designed for productive file format conversion, document optimization, and media processing. You strictly agree not to use the Service to:

• Upload or distribute content that contains malicious code, trojans, ransomware, or exploits designed to compromise computer systems.
• Submit "decompression bombs" (such as nested archive zip bombs) intended to overwhelm server memory or crash infrastructure.
• Process, transmit, or store material that infringes upon third-party copyrights, trademarks, or proprietary rights.
• Transmit unlawful, defamatory, harassing, or child-exploitative material.
• Bypass rate limits, reverse-engineer proprietary components, or perform denial-of-service attacks against ByteConvert infrastructure.

Violation of these rules will result in immediate termination of account access, revocation of active API keys, and notification of legal authorities where warranted.

4. Intellectual Property & Data Ownership

Your Content: You retain complete, unrestricted intellectual property rights over all files you upload and the resultant files generated by the conversion engine. ByteConvert claims zero ownership, license, or distribution rights over your content.

ByteConvert Platform: All visual styling, neumorphic designs, logos, trademarks, codebases, and interfaces are the exclusive intellectual property of ByteConvert and protected by international copyright laws.

5. Conversion Quotas and Tier Entitlements

Daily conversion counters reset automatically at 00:00 UTC. If an internal system failure prevents a file conversion from succeeding, that file is automatically refunded from your daily quota counter.

6. Subscriptions, Billing, and Cancellations

Premium subscriptions are billed monthly at €4.99 via Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically every 30 days unless cancelled. You may cancel your subscription at any time directly through your Billing settings. Upon cancellation, your Premium benefits remain active until the conclusion of the paid billing period.

7. API Usage & Developer Terms

Users with an active account may generate programmatic API keys. You are responsible for all API requests executed using your keys. Do not expose keys in public repositories or client-side code. We reserve the right to throttle or revoke API keys that generate disproportionate or abusive traffic.

8. Limitation of Liability & Service Warranty

ByteConvert is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. While we strive for 99.9% uptime and accurate file processing, we do not warrant that output files will meet bespoke proprietary formatting requirements of legacy third-party software. In no event shall ByteConvert be liable for indirect, punitive, or consequential damages resulting from data loss or service disruption.
